To inform year 7 teachers of recent changes to...
The Duston Teaching School Alliance has a strong track record of providing excellent opportunities for growth and development for NQTs employed. The majority of NQTs have come directly from training programmes at the alliance schools and our systems show a direct correlation from training to NQT year to ensure that staff are confident and are aware of all expectations.
A full training day is provided to NQTs employed at The Duston School, in addition to a new staff induction. This allows them to go through changes from their training year, discuss their initial Personal Action Plans for development and revisit the Teacher Standards. Previously, The Duston Teaching School Alliance has worked with Northampton LEA and Leicester City Council as Appropriate Bodies, however, due to our confidence with the systems in place, we are now moving to apply to become an accredited Appropriate Body.
Previous external verification reports of our systems have stated that “policies and procedures are in place and provide clear guidance concerning the induction period. All materials reviewed, including tracking documentation, were of a high quality. Verification meetings presented the work of the school in relation to supporting as outstanding.” (Mark Cordell, LCC, Secondary School Improvement Advisor, July 2013).
The Duston Teaching School Alliance is able to provide a range of support for all schools with NQTs, including-
- Mentor training sessions
- Guidance on practical application of the Teacher Standards
- New NQT sessions
- NQT CPD Programme
- Subject Days
